Peptide Therapy · Colorado Springs
Peptides are among the most discussed and most misunderstood tools in functional medicine. This page covers what peptide therapy actually is, what the evidence supports, what it does not, and how Genesis uses peptides within structured protocols.

What is a peptide?
A peptide is a short chain of amino acids: the same building blocks as proteins, but smaller. Most peptides in clinical use contain between 2 and 50 amino acids. Because of their size, they interact with specific receptor sites with precision that larger molecules often lack.
Where a supplement might provide a nutrient your body uses diffusely, a peptide sends a precise signal to a specific receptor or pathway. This is one reason why the side-effect profile of many peptides is notably different from systemic pharmaceuticals.

Frequently asked
Peptide therapy is the clinical use of compounded or synthetic peptide compounds to achieve specific physiological effects: stimulating tissue repair, modulating hormones, supporting immune function, or enhancing cognitive signaling.
Safety depends on the peptide, the dose, and the patient. FDA-approved peptides (like Vyleesi or Egrifta) have established safety profiles. 503A-compounded and research peptides have variable evidence. Genesis discloses the evidence and FDA status of every peptide on its therapy page.
503A-compounded peptides prepared under valid prescriptions by licensed pharmacies are legal. Some research peptides are in regulatory review. Genesis works only with licensed compounding pharmacies.
Most therapeutic peptides are delivered subcutaneously (SQ injection), intramuscularly (IM), intranasally, or intravenously. Oral bioavailability is poor for most peptides.
